Autumn’s Gothic glamour lends its sombre palette to Spring in a shift to black. Think black for the day in sweet summer dresses and light weight layers.
Complex textures and couture detailing bring rich flavor to this new way of seeing as seen at Stella McCartney during the summer/spring 2013 show were delicate broderie anglaise took a sinister twist, while at Dolce and Gabbana gowns were all adorned with delicate daisies.
Try textures to soften the look, via ruffles and pleats, lace and embellishment.
For braver dressers, dare to bare in sheer lace panels or thigh high split gowns. Leave plenty of skin on show – slashed fronts, exposed midriffs and bare shoulders offset the moody palette and lighten the overall feel of summer black.
