The Power Suit.

From L-R: Lanvin, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Balmain and Victoria Beckham
In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent introduced the now iconic Le Smoking, a groundbreaking yet sexy minimalist take on menswear for women. So in a year when the Saint Laurent label and minimalist designers commandeered everyone’s attention, it was only fitting that show after show churned out interpretations of the pantsuit.
From the Boardroom to Le Bain, the pantsuit is Spring 2013’s power player. Balmain went the bold shouldered route, and Victoria Beckham upped the sex appeal of her tuxedo with a skimpy bra top whilst at Stella McCartney’s the pantsuits were slouchy and sleek and tailored at Christian Dior’s.

From L-R: Janelle Monae, Carey Mulligan, Zoe Saldana, Salma Hayek and Jada Pinkett Smith
