Resort 2014.

When its not the summer/spring season or the Autumn/Winter season, it is usually the Resort season. The in-between-season collections which often inspires the main line ready to wear collections come February and September. These are some of the trends for next season.

Pinstripes. The pinstripe was all over the autumn/winter collections and its only natural for it to transcend to the next season.

Cropped Tops. Designers from brands like Versace to Altuzarra keep this midriff baring trend going strong.

Quirky Prints. From umbrella motifs to lip patterns, quirky prints added a whimsical spirit to resort 2014.

Head To Toe Lace. Lace continues to be a favorite with designers, although the styling lesson from Resort 2014 would be to create a head to toe look through layering.

Pleats. Pleats were more refined for resort, used for everything from pants, languid summer dresses to dramatic evening gowns.

Sheer Blocking. Never mind colour-blocking, Resort 2014 sees sheer blocking step into the limelight.

Opposites Attract. The stark and smart combination of black and white is still making a statement for resort 2014, whether in cool prints or graphic separates.

Gems. The heavily embellished looks that glide down runways all year round were scaled down to 3-D gems that dotted dresses, sweatshirts and coats.

Trench Coats. A staple in women’s wardrobes, the trench coat got a fresh makeover with bold prints, cool new shapes and some dazzling embellishment.

Exotic Textures. From wild animal prints to luxe and exotic textures, the Resort 2014 collections were about a sense of escape.
