Colour Of The Year 2014: Radiant Orchid

From L-R: Prabal Gurung and Rochas summer/spring 2014 beauty looks

PANTONE, the international authority on all things colour, has selected its official Colour of the Year 2014 - Radiant Orchid.
Described as "a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple" set to make its impact on the fashion, beauty, art and design worlds, the hue has fuchsia, purple and pink undertones and replaces 2013's Emerald shade.
The best way to wear it? We'll be looking to the striking lipstick seen on Prabal Gurung’s summer/spring 2014 catwalk and the wash of lilac around the eyes at Rochas.
Being an expert on colour, Pantone naturally has its own guidelines for wearing Radiant Orchid when it comes to make-up.
This multi-faceted hue is seductive when combined with red and pairs well with its sister shades of lavender, purple and pink, which provides an assortment of lipstick and blush options. Radiant Orchid's exuberance also acts as a brilliant finishing touch to nails.
And when it comes to ready-to-wear, it mixes well with other tones like chocolate browns, and burgundy or bordeaux makes for a deeper, richer tonal story.
