Pre-Fall 2014-15 Colour Trends.

After Spring’s playful romp in poppy colours, many designers got serious for pre-fall by darkening their colour palettes. Fall’s rich dark tones of burgundy, purple, fuschia, emerald green and navy were quite popular amidst the sprinkling of gold and orange while the reds got deeper in some pre-fall presentations.

Fall/Winter 2013 Biggest Trends.

It’s finally time to start implementing some of the major trends of the season into our wardrobes. Leather remains important (skip the traditional black leather jacket and opt for a jewel-toned shade instead), while plaid continues to have a moment. Bottom line: there is no need for a complete wardrobe overhaul once the temperature starts to drop.Thankfully, many trends that were big last season remain current.

Emerald green. Pantone named this rich shade its top color for 2013 so it will certainly be huge this season.

Thigh-high boots. "The higher, the better" is the motto of the year.

Midi Skirts. Focus is on the skirt as the hemline goes midi for fall.

Over-sized winter coats. If you're a fan of bulky sweaters, this trend is perfect for you. The roomy silhouette will make layering a breeze.

High slits. Tis the season of the thigh, so it's time to stock up on razors.

Plaid. Don't stash your flannel from last fall, as grunge gets even better this season.

Turtlenecks. A trend that is both practical and adorable. You can skip the scarf as your neck will already be warm enough.

Velvet. The fall staple is back. Who didn't see this coming?

Winter white. Yes, you can wear white after Labor Day.

Leather. This is one trend that never goes out of style, but this year try the luxe material in a deep blue or rich burgundy.

Emerald Green: The Color of 2013

From L-R: Akris, Burberry Prorsum, Tadashi Shoji, Acne and Alice + Olivia

When it came to Spring 2013 color trends; Burberry Prorsum, Tadashi Shoji and Alice + Olivia runways amongst others were awash with creations in a vibrant emerald green which therefore makes it no surprise when Pantone LLC, the authority when it comes to colors anointed this lush and radiant colour as the colour of 2013.
Be fully prepared to glitter in this green garb like Kate Middleton, Alicia Keys and Zoe Saldana who have all wowed in glamorous green ensembles on the red carpet. But if you’re a little apprehensive about incorporating the eye-catching jewel-tone in your wardrobe, start off with accessories like shoes, jewelry and bags to your everyday style in this striking shade with your favourite little black dress and go from there.
