Paris Haute Couture: Spring 2014.

Dior and Chanel made youth their central focus with freeing and incredibly delicate light collections for Spring 2014 that saw trainers on the couture catwalk. Hussein Chalayn made his debut at the house of Vionnet while Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Giambattista Valli stayed true to form with their floral, fairy tale collections that were nothing short of breathtaking. These are some of the trends Paris Haute Couture has in store for Spring 2014.

Embroidery. While Valentino went a different route for embroidery with animal faces and jungle themes, Giambattista Valli, Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab piled lots of flowers and sequins on red carpet worthy gowns.

Peplum. Given the abundance of peplum all over the couture collections, this trend is holding strong for spring 2014.

Sheer. From sheer sleeves to skirts, it was a game of peek-a-boo in most couture runways with a lot of sheer collections.

Fringing. Strewn with jewels like at Chanel or falling in a froth at Jean Paul Gaultier, fringing added the frilly touch to couture collections.

Stripes. Stripes were the focal point for the Oscar Carvallo couture collection but with a sprinkling at  Armani Prive and Vionnet, stripes maintain their stance on the trends for spring 2014.

Pleats. One of the biggest trends for spring 2014, it was a pleat fest for Schiaparelli, Alexis Mabille and Oscar Carvallo.

Lace. The yards of lace that dominated couture catwalks were the basis for the stand out 50s glamor feel for couture spring 2014.

 Grecian. Draping came in the form of grecian cut gowns and for Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexandre Vauthier and Ralph & Russo.

 Embellishment. Heavily embellished gowns in a rainbow of pastel hues were studies in opulence at Versace, Armani Prive and Chanel.

Ruffles. Ruffles added a surreal touch to gorgeous gowns and little cocktail dresses at Dior, Zuhair Murad,  and Stephane Rolland.
