Paris Fashion Week: Fall/Winter 2014-2015.

Paris Fashion Week brought forth the most anticipated show of the entire fashion season: Nicolas Ghesquiere’s debut as the creative director at the house of Vuitton. It marked a sea of change for the house as chic pragmatism that Ghesquiere is known for reigned with a more modern and simplistic collection for fall 2014. Zuhair Murad continued his exploration with the insect world from Couture 2014- particularly on butterflies. And Alessandro Dell’Acqua infused his Rochas debut with a hefty dose of fashion. These are some of the trends Paris has to offer Fall/Winter 2014.

Paris Haute Couture: Spring 2014.

Dior and Chanel made youth their central focus with freeing and incredibly delicate light collections for Spring 2014 that saw trainers on the couture catwalk. Hussein Chalayn made his debut at the house of Vionnet while Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Giambattista Valli stayed true to form with their floral, fairy tale collections that were nothing short of breathtaking. These are some of the trends Paris Haute Couture has in store for Spring 2014.

The MTV Video Music Awards 2013.

Although the MTV Video Music Awards is always choc-full of major stars and must-see performances, this year's show was particularly memorable. Swapping its usual L.A. location for Brooklyn's Barclays Center, the red carpet practically became a runway, showcasing a slew of edgy, fashion-forward ensembles. From Selena Gomez sleek Versace dress to Ariana Grande’s sweet floral frock, our favourite young starlets totally owned the show.
Miley Cyrus continued her crop top run with a too cool bedazzled ensemble, while Taylor Swift revved up her signature sophistication with a bandage gown. Ellie Goulding sported spikes, and Rita Ora had a major feathers moment. Here’s what everyone else wore and some of the trends at the VMAs 2013.

Long Sleeves. With fall around the corner, Katy Perry, Alison Williams and Naya Rivera chose long tapered sleeves which is a perfect transitional piece into cooler weather.

From L-R: Ciara, Rita Ora, Naya Rivera and Allison Williams

Monochrome. Justin Timberlake, Alexander Daddario and Diem Brown brought this trends staple onto the VMAs 2013 red carpet.

Peplum. After Angelina Jolie singlehandedly brought back the peplum trend to the red carpet, Jennifer Hudson, Crystal Reed and Desi Lydic followed in her foot steps.

Crop Tops. With her love for the trend, Miley Cyrus led the way for Jordin Sparks, Alicia Quarles, Becky G and Shailene Woodley in mid riff baring ensembles.

Side Slits. Slits are having a major moment all over red carpet season and the only difference on the VMAs red carpet is Katy Perry, Ashanti and Ellie Goulding all opted for side slits.

Menswear. Joseph Gordon Levitt brought the suave in his grey suit with a colourful shirt while Austin Mahone, Ed Sheeran and D Cassidy were smartly casual in their respective ensembles.

Paris Haute Couture: Fall/Winter 2013.

Couture season kicked off with a sexy yet sassy collection from Versace which showed what was in store for the rest of the season. Jean Paul Gaultier produced a collection with a leopard print inspired theme and the boys at Viktor & Rolf showcased a collection with half the items already sold. The main feel of couture this fall season was lovely albeit a little restrained as most designers are working towards making a way to more relevant couture collection in a modern world. Amongst couture mainstay trends; lace, capes and fur, these are some of the trends to look forward to next season.

Slits. Slits on dresses and gowns brought the sexy and sassy to couture shows.

From L-R: Alexandre Vauthier, Bouchra Jarrar, Atelier Versace and Zuhair Murad

Couture Coats. These ranged from fur to coat dresses a times covering the most pretty of frocks.

From L-R: Alexandre Vauthier, Armani Prive, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino

Branch Out. A couple of houses uprooted the bright and breezy blossoms that have ran through the Resort 14 for a more subdued, somewhat edgier take on flora: branch and stem motifs.

From L-R: Yiqing Lin, Zuhair Murad, Maison Martin Margiela and Valentino

Pockets. Hands were kept warm and cosy with small and oversized pockets on dresses, gowns, coats and pants.

From L-R: Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, Bouchra Jarrar and Yiqing Yin

Sheer Beauty. Sheers are regular on the trend circuit and its staying power is its versatility.

From L-R: Armani Prive, Valentino, Giambattista Valli and Stephane Rolland

Shimmer. Couture collections are nothing without their bit of shine and shimmer to light up the place.

From L-R: Elie Saab, Christian Dior, Giambattista Valli and Stephane Rolland

Long Sleeves. Sleeves were long and lean  on coats, dresses and jackets.

From L-R: Stephane Rolland, Zuhair Murad, Armani Prive and Ulyana Sergeenko

Asymmetric At the Neck. A trend noticeable through fashion week season, necks were asymmetric on dresses, jumpsuits and tops.

From L-R: Zuhair Murad, Iris Van Herpen, Alexandre Vauthier and Elie sAAB

Peplum.  Small and over-sized at some couturier houses, peplum defined waists on skirt suits and gowns.

From L-R: Jean Paul Gaultier, Giambattista Valli, Christian Dior and Georges Hobeika

Knee- Length Dresses.  Amidst the floor length sweepers, knee length dresses were frothy adding the girly touch to couture.

Worst Trends Of 2012.

E! Fashion Police recently released the following trends as the worst to happen in 2012 and requested help on ushering them out leaving room for new ones in 2013. Are these some of YOUR worst trends of 2012.

Peplum. You know, those little shelves that somehow make your hips look massive...unless you're Jessica Alba.

Jumpsuits. Eva Longoria, we love you, but do you really need an outfit that doubles as a flight suit? Why wear that: Just in case somebody suddenly invents jet packs?

Cat stuff. Hello, kitty. Goodbye, kitty.

Going pantless. Yes, Rihanna, we get it: You're hot. But we bet you're also freezing.

Dip-dyed ends. From Christina Aguilera to Lauren Conrad, tons and tons of stars tried on the trend this year. The result: Tons and tons of stars got mistaken for Ke$ha.

Tangerine. It's a lovely color. But like our mom says, eating too much of anything will make you sick.

Low-crotch pants. Hey, maybe Justin Bieber really needs all that room in the crotch area. Or maybe it's time to stop with the wishful thinking.

Over-the-top manis. Seeing a star sporting a super-long or diamond-encrusted manicure was kind of entertaining...the first eight times. But right about now, a simple bottle of Revlon is looking pretty good.

Top-to-toe leather looks. We get all sweaty just looking at outfits like this one, sported by Kerry Washington.

Fall/Winter 2012

Fashion trends change with every season and as the weather changes, so do the the trends. The ensembles and colors for fall are more darker and the materials heavier. Here’s are look at the Fall/ Winter 2012 trends.

Print Obsession. Prints are still a fashion week favorite as designers pushed their print love and obsession to the limit with jackets that matched the patterned pants we’ve been seeing for some time. Paisley floral and painterly went head to toe at Miu Miu, Rag and Bone and Rochas.
MiuMiu Fall 2012
Oversize. When it comes to outer wear, oversize and away from the body coats are the way to go as seen during Celine, Chloe and Balenciaga shows.
Celine Fall 2012
Fluff Pieces. Designers turned out an updated and modern way to wear fur which is as an accent. Sleeves at Fendi and Jason Wu were fuzzy, pelted skirts at mulberry and the shearling trim on leather dresses at Rodarte.
Fendi Fall 2012
Curve Emphasis. Stella MacCartney, Marc Jacobs and Lanvin kept focus on the waist by adding peplums, panniers and padding to hips for impact.
Stella McCartney 2012
Gothic Charm. After the display of blinding bright hues and busy prints during Resort 2013 Fashion Week, fashion has turned a gothic corner. Tough black leather turned up on the runway at Proenza Schouler, Givenchy and Versace.
Versace Fall 2012

Brocade Opulence. There was a common gold thread running through the season. Dries Van Noten, Marni, Balmain all channelled baroque opulence with rich brocades and embellishments.
Balmain F/W2012
The velvet touch. Super luxurious and comfortable, velvet is very wearable for fall. Opt for a reflective look for added curves.
Gucci F/W2012
Embellishment. Shine is a big deal this Fall/Winter with the emphasis on reflecting the light rather than catching it. Try injecting your look with some super-shiny additions like jewellery or an embellished dress.
Dolce and Gabbana F/W2012
Burgundy. It is hard to escape the rich darkness of burgundy. It is a fantastic colour to wear for fall because it is easy to co-ordinate and goes on anything.
Gucci F/W2012
Black and White. Everyone looks good in this classic monotone which is a nice way to break out of the all black ensembles that dominated the Fall/Winter 2012 catwalks.
Valentino F/W2012
