Statement Coats.

When it comes to Autumn/Winter collections, outer wear is one of the trend staples because of it’s cosiness and warmth. During London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter shows and subsequent parties: celebrities from Naomie Harris to Paloma Faith all spotted statement coats to take in the various shows.
Burberry Prorsum show attendees Naomie Harris, Paloma Faith, Miroslava Duma and Poppy Delevingne all looked chic with Naomie Harris in a navy blue velvet embroidered coat while Paloma Faith and Poppy Delevingne completed their looks with maroon and blue coats thrown over their shoulders respectively. And Kelly Osbourne wore a Mulberry double breasted coat to the Mulberry London Fashion Week dinner.

Paris Fashion Week: Spring 2014 Trends.

Paris Fashion week drew the curtain on fashion month on a seriously anticlimactic note as Spring 2014 saw the end of Marc Jacobs’ influential 16 year reign at the house of Louis Vuitton. His farewell bid to Louis Vuitton was a dark one with a collection steeped in moody black to give off a glamorous funeral vibe reminiscent of his first collection for the house as its creative Director. On that note; these are some of the trends Paris has in store for Spring 2014.

One Shoulder. Chanel, Isabel Marant, Hussein Chalayan and Chloe all decreed the single shoulder as spring 2014’s erogenous zone.



Embellish Me. Glitter and sequins for shimmery dresses took over the runways at Lanvin, Saint Laurent, Manish Arora and Iris Van Herpen for an extremely bright spring 2014.


Coats. Several spring collections featured a lot of outer wear regardless of it being spring.


Metallic. Dior, Balmain, Jean Paul Gaultier, Saint Laurent and Lanvin all joined the metallic craze for spring 2014.


Appliques. Jewels, florals and broderie anglaise all worked as appliques for Elie Saab, Dries Van Noten, Giambattista Valli and Collette Dinnigan.


Tiers. There’s been plenty of tiers to pull skirts into shape and length at Emanuel Ungaro, Akris, Maxime  Simoens, Collette Dinnigan and Alexander McQueen.


Slits. For a dash of sexy, Leonard, Paul & Joe, Alexis Mabille and Artsuro Tayama among others brought out sassy thigh slits.


Pleats. A design feature seen on high rotation this season – were used excessively at Dries Van Noten, Issey Miyaki, Viktor & Rolf and Maison Rabih Kayrouz.


Stripes. Rippling stripes defined the vibe at Saint Laurent, Veronique Leroy, Cedric Charleir, Vanessa Bruno and Acne Studios.



Plaid. In all its various forms, plaid popped up on the Parisian runways of Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Viktor & Rolf and Balmain.

Fall/Winter 2012

Fashion trends change with every season and as the weather changes, so do the the trends. The ensembles and colors for fall are more darker and the materials heavier. Here’s are look at the Fall/ Winter 2012 trends.

Print Obsession. Prints are still a fashion week favorite as designers pushed their print love and obsession to the limit with jackets that matched the patterned pants we’ve been seeing for some time. Paisley floral and painterly went head to toe at Miu Miu, Rag and Bone and Rochas.

 Oversize. When it comes to outer wear, oversize and away from the body coats are the way to go as seen during Celine, Chloe and Balenciaga shows.

Fluff Pieces. Designers turned out an updated and modern way to wear fur which is as an accent. Sleeves at Fendi and Jason Wu were fuzzy, pelted skirts at mulberry and the shearling trim on leather dresses at Rodarte.

Curve Emphasis. Stella MacCartney, Marc Jacobs and Lanvin kept focus on the waist by adding peplums, panniers and padding to hips for impact.

Gothic Charm. After the display of blinding bright hues and busy prints during Resort 2013 Fashion Week, fashion has turned a gothic corner. Tough black leather turned up on the runway at Proenza Schouler, Givenchy and Versace.

Brocade Opulence. There was a common gold thread running through the season. Dries Van Noten, Marni, Balmain all channelled baroque opulence with rich brocades and embellishments.

The velvet touch. Super luxurious and comfortable, velvet is very wearable for fall. Opt for a reflective look for added curves.

Gucci F/W2012

Embellishment. Shine is a big deal this Fall/Winter with the emphasis on reflecting the light rather than catching it. Try injecting your look with some super-shiny additions like jewellery or an embellished dress.

Dolce and Gabbana F/W2012

Burgundy. It is hard to escape the rich darkness of burgundy. It is a fantastic colour to wear for fall because it is easy to co-ordinate and goes on anything.

Black and White. Everyone looks good in this classic monotone which is a nice way to break out of the all black ensembles that dominated the Fall/Winter 2012 catwalks.
