Chartreuse.

Despite the blustery and cooler climates of fall, several stars are having a sunny style moment.
Louis Roe, Lauren Conrad, Anna Kendrick have all been spotted in the same shade of Chartreuse. When Cameron Diaz, Amy Adams and Helen Hunt turned up on the red carpet clad in this hot hue we simply raised our eyebrows in curiosity.
It is too sensational a color trend and definitely not for the timid.

Style Tip.
Let the shocking shade take center stage by teaming it with nude pumps and less accessories.

Gossip Girl Fashion.

Since its debut in 2007, Gossip Girl set the style stakes bar so high and has been on top of the Fashion game since. As the series progressed and the plot got lost along the way, some of us stayed faithful to the show for its fashion and style. In honor of the show’s final season, here’s a look at what influence the kids of Constance have had on style and fashion spreads.

Headbands. Headbands were reserved for kids, before Blair Waldorf. She singlehandedly made the headband popular for adults. She had a different one for every outfit and so did her girls.

Colorful Tights. The girls of Constance treated colorful tights as accessories often coordinating them with the aforementioned headbands. Suddenly, colorful tights were what one needed to top off an outfit.

Micro Hemlines. Whilst Blair Waldorf was prim and proper, Serena Van Der Woodsen had style that was totally her own often erring on the undressed side. She mastered the art of inappropriate cleavage baring and micro hemlines, which she showcased whenever possible.

Dandy Style. Chuck Bass had the most coveted and sophisticated male style on the show- suspenders, pea coats, seriously fancy socks, slim-fit dandy suits for days and a suave, slicked back ‘do. He always looked fresh off the GQ magazine pages.

Thick and Dark Eyeliner. Aside from the ratty hair extensions of Jenny Humphrey and her slow decline, dark eyeliner was the beginning of the end for Little J.

Gorgeous Gowns. Gossip Girl started off with Serena wearing a gold strapless gown to Cotillion. The beautiful gowns kept coming as Blair + Serena got cosy in couture

Color. New York is known for its trade mark black but Gossip Girl gave it a breathe of fresh air with the rainbow of colourful outfits spotted by the show's characters.

The Hair Bow.

Remember Lady Gaga with the huge hair bow at the release of Poker Face in 2009? Guess what? It is making a comeback! Creating loops and bows out of really long hair isn’t anything new but it is getting more sophisticated since Lady Gaga.

Sky high topknots have been making the rounds on the red carpet and everywhere else from Kim Kardashian to Kelly Osbourne but it is a very sharp look that doesn’t work for everyone even on a normal day. A hair bow is a better way to upgrade from the bun and stay on trend without going to the salon.

Here’s how to create the hair bow in three easy steps. First, tie the hair into a high ponytail, pulling the last piece of hair only halfway through to make a loose bun. Second, tease the bun to fan it out and create a part in the center. Finally, take the remaining section of the hair and pull it through the centre of the parted bun, then fix in place with hair pins. Add a little finishing hairspray for a polished look.

And there you have it – a beautiful bow tie without the fuss of silly hairbands or scrunchies.

The Polo Shirt.

A polo shirt is a shirt you can depend on in any situation so much so that is back on the fashion scene. Previously made famous by Polo players hence the name, it is popular regardless of age and genre.
A Polo shirt is much more dressed up which differentiates it from the normal Tee-shirt and is currently dominated by bright shades. It is also most favoured because of the collar which you can pop up or leave down.

Style Tip: Pair a polo shirt with tailored shorts for a casual look and slacks for a more mature dressed up look. Pop your collar for the cool edge.
Once you know your way around it, you can wear it in countless different styles.

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards recently took place to honour the best on Television and as usual, it was glamorous gowns and black tuxedos with a few changes here and there. Here are some of the red carpet trends at the Emmys.

Sheer Panels. The incorporation of sheer panels on confections of dresses makes for the most naughty but innocent of looks and this is why celebrities can’t get enough of it especially for many a red carpet events.

Pops of Colour. There is nothing like wearing a colorful gown to stand out in the crowd. Colors from burgundy, Orange, Purple amongst others popped on the Emmys’ red carpet like never before.

Sunny Yellow. Yellow certainly came out to play as not more than three stars made an entrance on the carpet in various shades of this sunny color. Clearly, they all needed a mood pick me up and no colour does it better than yellow.

All shades Grey. Grey is the NEW black! The Emmys red carpet saw the various  shades of Grey from a lot of stars noting it as one of the colors for the season.

A Bow Tie Affair. The men looked dashing in their black tie whilst others gave us a few surprises in the changes made to the normal tuxedo. Variations were made to the bowtie and shirts in stead of the normal black and white tuxedo.

Embellishments. Sequins and beads sparkled on the Emmys red carpet as celebrities came decked out in the shiniest and metallic of gowns.

Blazer Love.

Toss out those frumpy coats for the season and embrace light weight, layer friendly blazers in bright colors that are sure to make a statement all season long. Whether cropped or long sleeved the blazer is one of the closet staples that goes on anything and everything.

Spend a little more on this closet staple because blazers are the quickest way to add the  finishing touch to an outfit and are forever fashionable. For the ultra sexy look, try wearing a colourful blazer over a pair of not too short shorts with high heels and you’re sure to make a statement.

summer/spring Shoes Trends.

No outfit is ever complete without a fabulous pair of shoes to top it off. Here is a look at some of the shoe trends going on at the moment.

Ankle Straps. The ankle strap had lost its popularity on the fashion scene for a while but it is back both in chunky and thin straps. Opt for a thin strap if you are a little big around the ankle and for volume, the chunky big strap is the one for you. Ankle straps are perfect for skirts and dresses for maximum visibility.

Color Blocking. Color blocking is still one of the runaway trends this season and it doesn’t only stop with clothes. Multi candy colored shoes are a fabulous way to make an otherwise bland monochromatic outfit pop. Color blocked shoes are suitable for neutral colored outfits.

Au Natural. Natural fibre like cork, rope heels and beads is the way to go for a touch of ethnicity. They are perfect for summer dresses and the bohemian look.

Printed Shoes. The snake skin print on shoes has taken over from where the leopard print let off. Unlike the leopard print, the snake skin comes in an assortment of colours catering to the different needs out there.

Metallic. Metallic colors are still very much on vogue. They are the perfect jewellery for your feet.

Accessories: Men’s Watches.

There is something about a man’s watch on a dainty feminine wrist that we can not put our fingers on but wonder why? It could be women are tired of the small feminine watches that disappear under the loads of arm candy or the need for a time piece with volume on the wrist. Whatever the reason, we do not care because Men’s watches are fast becoming the accessory of choice where time pieces are concerned for women and we love it.
If you love a volume on the wrist and a statement watch to make it pop, Men’s watches or those with a masculine design are the way to go. They certainly will not disappear under the load of arm candy you might have going on.

Fall/Winter 2012

Fashion trends change with every season and as the weather changes, so do the the trends. The ensembles and colors for fall are more darker and the materials heavier. Here’s are look at the Fall/ Winter 2012 trends.

Print Obsession. Prints are still a fashion week favorite as designers pushed their print love and obsession to the limit with jackets that matched the patterned pants we’ve been seeing for some time. Paisley floral and painterly went head to toe at Miu Miu, Rag and Bone and Rochas.
MiuMiu Fall 2012
Oversize. When it comes to outer wear, oversize and away from the body coats are the way to go as seen during Celine, Chloe and Balenciaga shows.
Celine Fall 2012
Fluff Pieces. Designers turned out an updated and modern way to wear fur which is as an accent. Sleeves at Fendi and Jason Wu were fuzzy, pelted skirts at mulberry and the shearling trim on leather dresses at Rodarte.
Fendi Fall 2012
Curve Emphasis. Stella MacCartney, Marc Jacobs and Lanvin kept focus on the waist by adding peplums, panniers and padding to hips for impact.
Stella McCartney 2012
Gothic Charm. After the display of blinding bright hues and busy prints during Resort 2013 Fashion Week, fashion has turned a gothic corner. Tough black leather turned up on the runway at Proenza Schouler, Givenchy and Versace.
Versace Fall 2012

Brocade Opulence. There was a common gold thread running through the season. Dries Van Noten, Marni, Balmain all channelled baroque opulence with rich brocades and embellishments.
Balmain F/W2012
The velvet touch. Super luxurious and comfortable, velvet is very wearable for fall. Opt for a reflective look for added curves.
Gucci F/W2012
Embellishment. Shine is a big deal this Fall/Winter with the emphasis on reflecting the light rather than catching it. Try injecting your look with some super-shiny additions like jewellery or an embellished dress.
Dolce and Gabbana F/W2012
Burgundy. It is hard to escape the rich darkness of burgundy. It is a fantastic colour to wear for fall because it is easy to co-ordinate and goes on anything.
Gucci F/W2012
Black and White. Everyone looks good in this classic monotone which is a nice way to break out of the all black ensembles that dominated the Fall/Winter 2012 catwalks.

Resort 2013

Resort wear is clothing designed for trips to sunny warm climates in winter. Designers mix a bit of the previous fall/winter silhouettes with a sneak peak into the upcoming spring summer collections. Resort is usually for people who live in cold snowy places that go for a brief retreat somewhere warm as a welcome break and designers make special clothes for these holiday places such as Caribbean beaches, tropical islands, and for boat cruises through warm tropical seas.  Designers offered up a wealth of options with their Resort collections. Here is a look at the Resort 2013 runway trends.

Lace. The feminine fabric has gotten an updated and modern look saturated in deep pinks, black and mixed with sheer. Lace dresses are sure to win over the most androgynous of dressers.

Short Shorts. Shorts will always be a favourite for the tropical beach crowd and this time was no different. Designers made them a wide and breezy to fit into the feel of the warm retreats that the holiday places are known for.

Peplum. Peplums, a carryover from the spring summer collections has proved to be a popular trend. The fall runways demonstrated its staying power and resort confirms its ongoing appeal. From denim to printed silks, peplum is here to stay.

Sheer White. Sheer white acting as a palate cleanser to the abundance of colour and patterns seen from past seasons is a welcome touch to the resort collections.

Embellished Collars. Statement necklaces have been the go-to solutions to spice up simple Tees and dresses but these pieces have sparkle built in them. Beaded and Bejewelled necklines popped up on Tees, blouses and sheath dresses that paraded down the runways.

Tip: Wear items separately or in moderation to make a pretty impact and remember that colorful bead work is what makes the tribal trend what it is.

A Touch Of Neon.

Neon has been on and off the fashion scene since the 80’s but has made a fun and fearless comeback due to color. Fun, flirty and vibrant colors are what this season is all about and nothing encompasses all that in one than neon.
The number one rule about neon is not to go overboard with both colour and accessories. You don’t want to stick out like a really sore thumb. Here’s a few ways on how to incorporate touches of neon in your style for a subtle yet sophisticated look.

From L-R Neon Jewellery, Bags, Denim and Shoes
.The addition of neon accents in your overall look makes you look not only trendy but fashionable too. Remember not to go overboard even when colour blocking. Neon accents work well with neutral colors which makes them stand out best.

No out fit is ever complete without the right shoes and this year’s trends are a testament to that.
Here are some of this season’s shoe trends that will give you an idea on what to wear.
Pastels. Pastels are not only available to clothes but shoes too. Pair pastel shoes with a solid colour for a fun flirty look.
Oxfords. The oxford shoes have made a resurrection on the fashion scene. From flats to heels, oxfords will give your out fit the casual yet chic look. Wear heeled oxford lace-ups for a formal look.

Metallic Colours. These come mostly in ballet flats which are the simplest shoes you can wear on anything. Go for neutrals like Gold or Silver for a really glamorous look.

Floral Print Shoes. The floral print is one of this season’s runaway trend. From floral dresses to denim and now shoes, it is pretty hard to escape the floral print. Go easy on the accessories when wearing any item with a floral print.

Neon. We are seeing a return of the 80’s with the comeback of neon this fashion season. The right way to wear neon shoes is to pair them with a solid colour.

Sneaker Wedge. Sporty chic is making the rounds on the fashion scene but if you don’t want to go full on sports with the sports wear and want to retain your femininity, sneaker wedges are the way to go. They offer both the sporty and feminine look in one go. A perfect way to get in touch with your inner tomboy.
