Favourite London Fashion Week SS13 Collections.

As London Fashion Week winds down, here is a look at some of our favorite collections.
Holly Fulton. With a slew of prints on the runways of London Fashion Week from snakeskin, aztec, tropical and floral prints to ones of currency. Holly Fulton’s take on the print trend was quite refreshing. Against a backdrop of bubblegum pink, lemon yellow and baby blue, Fulton’s rose motif of choice came through her entire collection as rose appliques and sequins. Whilst some climbed up legs on printed trousers, and lapels of cropped jackets others hugged skirts and bodices of evening gowns.

Vivienne Westwood. Retro Chic was the theme going through Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label summer/spring collection. Prim looking ladies took to the catwalk in pencil skirts with white gloves tied around their wrists, a jaunty candy striped shirt, padded Alice bands and scrunchies added a bit of tongue –in -cheek brilliance to the collection.

Sass and Bide. Inspired from a trip to Peru, Sass and Bide offered a collection that was a combination of both feminine and masculine elements offset against each other beautifully.Black and white Cravats came garnished with flowers, little minis were fringed and feathered while masculine jackets were capped with sequin. It was a collection beautifully put together.

Issa London.  It was a visual feast during Issa’s runway show as glamorous gowns and maxis with the most vivid of prints billowed down the runway. Exotic birds, vibrant flowers, tigers and elephants adorned twisted maxis with nipped in waists and Seventies Jumpsuits on quite a colorful palette of fuchsia, violet and scarlet with a bit of embellishment here and there. All this made for a glamorous show.

Temperly London. Known for her dramatic evening gowns with quite a celebrity fan base, Temperly’s Spring /Summer collection was truly a ‘return to elegance.’ With a 1950s inspired theme and look; poufy patterned skirts, lots of sheer and stripes in the prettiest of color palettes- cream, nude and black not forgetting the surprising pops of cherry red floated down the runway. Temperly delivered a wearable collection in both her separates and elegant gowns.

London Fashion Week summer/spring13.

Hardly had the dust settled under the furor of New York Fashion than London Fashion week arrived. The fashion pack from models to designers alike traveled to catch what this great city had to offer. Unlike New York, fashion in London is quite eccentric, quirky and fun. Here are the trends this city has to offer next summer/spring.

Prints. An eclectic mix of flowers, birds, geometric, currency and snake skin prints amongst others ruled the catwalk runways of Issa, Mary Kantratzou, Vivienne Westwood and Holly Fulton showing this trend has staying power.

Embellishments. Embellishments without abandon on the most beautiful of dresses, cropped jackets,  tailored trousers shone and glittered on creations from of Giles Deacon, Burberry, Antoni and Allison and Osman in the form of shattered glass, sequins, jewels, stones and beads.

Pastels. Collections of Christopher Kane, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem and  Pringles Of Scotland were awash with arrays of pastels in shades of pink, blue, buttercup yellow and green.

Stripes. Big, bold blocks of colour fell in line to make stripes on sheer, cotton, chiffon confections. A noticeable trend from New York Fashion Week, stripes seem to be one of the big trends this season and Temperley, Acne, PPQ couldn’t agree more.

Embroidery. Appliqués in form of swirly symmetrical hearts, florals with sheer and leather as backdrops crawled and littered on collections from Osman, Meadham Kirchoff and Antonio Berardi.

Fringe Benefits. From feathers to frills and tussles, fringe trimmings were aplenty during London Fashion Week. Mario Schwab, Sass and Bide and Christopher Kane showcased a host of fringe trimmed pieces that made an impact on the catwalk.

Summer Leather. Leather with laser cut outs graced the catwalks of Giles Deacon, Acne, Mulberry, Sass and Bide in black, white whites, Camel toned in dresses, skirts, trousers and jackets.

Cropped Jackets. Cute little cropped jackets topped off little dresses, tailored pants and skirts on collections from PPQ, Zoe Jourdan and Todd Lynn as the models walked down the runway.

Shirt Dresses. Formerly known as ‘shirtwaist dress’. Models from Vivienne Westwood, Nicole Farhi, Preen slunk down the runway in flattering loose to fitting shirt dresses sometimes cinched at the waist for a definitive look.
